Mettler Toledo Load Cells
Load cells METTLER TOLEDO Catalogue of originals and equivalents METTLER TOLEDO load cells Load cells and weigh modules for platforms, tanks, dosing systems and vehicle scales. Original supply or an equivalent if the model is discontinued. METTLER TOLEDO load cells are industrial force sensors for platforms, hoppers, tanks, vehicle scales and machine integration. Use this page to select the type: single point, sealed stainless MTB, beam, column, S-type, digital POWERCELL or a complete weigh module. We match capacity (Emax), number of supports, IP rating, OIML and ATEX, and check whether the original is available or a compatible replacement is required. Platforms and packing — one single-point cell under the scale platter Tanks and hoppers — 3–4 supports, usually a weigh module Suspended vessels — S-type in tension Vehicle scales and outdoor use — column cell or POWERCELL Replacement in an existing system — original if available; otherwise an equivalent by signal, capacity and mounting Request a selection View types How this catalogue works. We add genuine METTLER TOLEDO models that can be supplied as originals. If a part is discontinued or the lead time is not acceptable, we select an equivalent from the same or another manufacturer by capacity, mV/V, IP rating, accuracy class and mounting dimensions. Certificates and the exact capacity range are checked against the model datasheet. Strain gauges are bonded to a spring element. Under load the element deforms, the bridge resistance changes and the output appears in mV/V. A terminal or PLC converts that signal into weight. Both analogue cells and digital POWERCELL units are used. Analogue cells suit platforms and drop-in replacement in an existing system. Digital cells are used when per-support diagnostics, a network without a junction box and outdoor stability matter. In the enquiry state: analogue or digital, body material, cable length, and the model on the nameplate if this is a replacement. Which load cell types are in the range The type follows the load path: one cell under a platform, several supports under a vessel, tension on a hanger, or a column under a vehicle scale. The site catalogue is built up in stages: first models that can be supplied, then entries kept for equivalent selection. Single point One cell supports the platform and compensates off-centre loading. Reference models: MT1022, MT1041, MT1241, MT1260. Aluminium, IP67, platforms typically 350–600 mm. Models and equivalents Sealed MTB Welded stainless cell for washdown and process duty. Capacity guide 5–500 kg, IP68. Often fitted inside an SWB weigh module. Models and equivalents Beam Platforms and conveyors on several supports. SLD series and related beams. Capacity from hundreds of kilograms to tonnes — confirm on the datasheet. Models and equivalents Column / canister Compression under silos, heavy tanks and vehicle scales. Reference models: SLC610, 0782, RLC. Stainless steel, IP68. Models and equivalents S-type Tension: hanging hoppers, dosing vessels, test stands. SLS410 / SLS510. Do not treat them as an MTB swap by capacity alone. Models and equivalents POWERCELL Digital loop with per-cell diagnostics. PDX / GDD for vehicle scales, SLB615D in SWB605 modules. Models and equivalents Weigh modules The cell is already mounted with anti-lift and side-load protection. SWB505, SWB605, SWC615, hygienic SWB805. Models and equivalents SLF6 for machines High-resolution integration into filling and check applications. Capacity guide 6 / 15 / 32 / 64 kg, RS and fieldbus interfaces. Models and equivalents Capacities and approvals are a guide from METTLER TOLEDO materials. Before order we check the current datasheet and production status. How to choose a load cell: 8 steps Selecting a METTLER TOLEDO load cell is eight checks: capacity reserve, number of supports, environment, metrology, hazardous area, analogue vs digital, cable/terminal and verification. If the model is discontinued, the same eight steps apply to the equivalent. Capacity and reserve. Include dead load, product and dynamics. Do not work at the rated maximum. Number of supports. One cell = single point. Three or four = beam, column or weigh module. Environment and IP. Dry indoor use often accepts IP67. Washdown and outdoor use need stainless IP68 / IP69K. OIML / NTEP. Legal-for-trade or process only. Do not specify C6 for status. Hazardous area. Zone 1/21 or 2/22, ATEX / IECEx / FM — only as marked on that version. Analogue or digital. Analogue is simpler as a spare. POWERCELL if downtime costs more than the cell. Cable and terminal. 4-wire or 6-wire, length, IND terminal or PLC input. Verification. A cell certificate does not replace stamping of the complete instrument. Original, equivalent or discontinued model The catalogue is built as a library of existing load cells from global manufacturers. For METTLER TOLEDO the same rule applies: supply the original when possible; if the model is unavailable, offer a working replacement rather than a cell that only “looks like the same kilograms”. Status on the site What it means What we do Original, available The model is in production or available from stock / to order Supply METTLER TOLEDO with datasheet and wiring Original to order, long lead time The model is current, logistics are slow Wait for the original or calculate an equivalent in parallel Discontinued The manufacturer no longer produces this item Select an equivalent by capacity, mV/V, mounting, IP and approval No original, other brands available The job can be covered by Zemic, Tedea-Huntleigh, Celtron, Flintec, Utilcell and others Show the equivalent card and the differences; do not present another brand as METTLER TOLEDO Minimum checks for an equivalent: load type: single point / beam / column / S-type; rated capacity and safe overload; output mV/V, bridge resistance, 4-wire or 6-wire; hole centres and mounting thread; IP rating, material, accuracy class, ATEX if a zone exists. Do not delete discontinued product pages: they are the entry point from an old nameplate to a replacement. Where they are used METTLER TOLEDO load cells are used in five typical loops. The loop decides the cell type and whether a weigh module is required. Platforms and retail — MT1022 / MT1041 / MT1241 / MT1260. The hard limit is the platform size in the datasheet. Tanks and silos — MTB in an SWB module or a column cell SLC610 / 0782. Suspension — SLS410 / SLS510 and a tension mount. Do not use them in compression. Dosing and OEM machines — a fast single point, or SLF6 when fine resolution is required. Vehicle scales — POWERCELL PDX / GDD. Typical installation errors Most “the cell is lying” calls are installation, not a factory defect. A rigid pipe on the tank, uneven supports, welding without isolation, a platform larger than the rating, and high-pressure wash on IP67 remove accuracy faster than “the wrong C3 class”. In the enquiry say whether there is an agitator, on-site welding, washdown or wind load. Load cell, weigh module or complete scale A bare load cell is used when the frame is already calculated. A weigh module is used for tanks, hoppers and conveyors so that anti-lift and side stops are not designed from scratch. A complete scale is used when a turnkey instrument is required, not a catalogue component. Compatibility with terminals and PLCs An analogue METTLER TOLEDO cell connects to IND terminals and to a PLC weighing input if excitation, mV/V and 4/6-wire scheme match. Digital POWERCELL runs on its own network and is not wired as a standard 2 mV/V cell. For a replacement, check pinout and bridge resistance first, not only capacity. Documents and approvals Legal-for-trade use looks at OIML R60 and the scale scheme. The US path uses NTEP. Hazardous areas need ATEX / IECEx / FM of that exact version, not “the neighbouring model”. Verification applies to the assembled instrument. The exact range and production status are stated on the product card. How we select Record the duty and the nameplate of the current cell if this is a replacement. Check whether the METTLER TOLEDO original can be supplied. If the model is discontinued or the lead time is not acceptable, search equivalents from other brands. Match load path, capacity, mV/V, mounting, IP rating and approval. Check the terminal separately: analogue 2 mV/V or POWERCELL network. Issue the specification and a list of differences between original and replacement. FAQ Can a discontinued METTLER TOLEDO cell be replaced by another brand? Yes, if load type, capacity, signal, mounting and the required approval match. An equivalent is not called a METTLER TOLEDO original. A digital POWERCELL is not replaced by a standard analogue cell without changing the terminal. Why keep discontinued models in the catalogue? From the old nameplate the engineer opens the page and sees the status: discontinued, replacement available, which parameters to check. Deleting the card breaks that path. Is a weigh module required on a tank? Almost always, unless the tank was designed as a scale. The module handles side load, lift-off and overload. A bare cell is used only when the frame calculation already exists. What is the difference between OIML C3 and C6? C6 allows more verification intervals and tighter cell error limits. On a poor installation C6 will not outperform C3. The class is confirmed by the datasheet and the scale scheme. When should POWERCELL be used? When hidden drift and downtime cost more than the price difference: vehicle scales, large tanks, remote sites. For one bench platform an analogue single point is usually enough. Will a METTLER TOLEDO cell work with a third-party terminal? Analogue cells often will, if mV/V, bridge resistance and excitation match. POWERCELL will not, outside the METTLER TOLEDO network. Can the cell be used outdoors? Yes, if the body and IP rating are specified for outdoor duty: welded stainless steel, IP68/IP69K and protected cable. An aluminium single point IP67 is not the usual choice for permanent outdoor use. How do you avoid overloading the cell? Add dead load + maximum product + dynamics. The safe overload in the datasheet is not a working mode. On vessels the module stops are required. How does MTB differ from S-type? MTB works in compression under a vessel or inside a module. S-type works in tension on a hanger. They are not interchangeable by capacity alone. Does the load cell itself need verification? For legal-for-trade use the assembled instrument is verified. The cell must have a suitable OIML or NTEP approval. A load-cell certificate does not replace the stamp on the scale.
